Blog-6 – 108 Surya Namaskara Yogathan

Ratha Saptami marks the birth of Surya (Sun). It represents the Sun God Surya turning his Ratha (Chariot) drawn by seven horses (representing seven colors) towards the northern hemisphere. It also symbolizes the change of season to spring and the start of the harvesting season.

It is a day to celebrate or worship the birth or Surya (Sun). Practicing Surya Namaskara on this day would be an excellent way to pay our tribute to the god of light.

Sri Guru Raya School of Yoga, conducted the 108 Surya Namaskara Yogathan, to pay tribute to Surya (Sun). Young and old alike, enthusiastically performed Surya Namaskara (the Sun salutation) to mark the Ratha Saptami on 24th January 2018.

Surya Namaskara is a set of 12 postures which provide energy and stimulates almost every organ of our body. The appropriate practice of these asanas along with Mantras not only strengthens the body but add a spiritual element to the mind. Being a part of Yogathan on the auspicious day of Rathasapthami (24th of Jan’18) was an amazing experience and really thank Veeresh Sir for making this flawless arrangement. Looking forward for similar events to understand and be confident about our body and mind..
